Our true friends are those who are with us when the good things happen. They cheer us on and are pleased by our triumphs. False friends only appear at difficult times, with their sad, supportive faces, when, in fact, our suffering is serving to console them for their miserable lives.

"Is that an actual, real-life dragon? In the middle of New York? I'm sure that doesn't attract any attention. At all."

Red twisted around to find the woman standing there. The horse-sized, blue dragon that Red was attending to curled up a bit, looking to Mary like a deer staring at a car’s headlights. “I-I.. I’m just trying to get him home,” Red spoke.

Raising an amused eyebrow, she took a step closer, not seeing the girl as a threat, despite her unlikely companion. “And how do you plan on doing that undetected? Can’t let the mundies see you,” she asked, inspecting the dragon with interest. “Not that it’s not a beautiful specimen.”

"I know. But sadly I don’t have anything to put a glamour on him, so I’ve been trying to sneak him around as best as I can." She stroked the scaley creature to ease it. "Yeah, he is, isn’t he? ..It’s a shame he sticks out in this environment though."

"Too expensive, I take it?" she asked with a shrug. "Shouldn’t depend on the Thirteenth floor witches so much then."

She eyed the creature, none of the usual resentment in her eyes. Was it afraid of her? “It is. But really anything except for humans sticks out in this environment,” she replied. “Well, that and brick walls.”

She lightly laughed. “Yeah. ..You wouldn’t happen to know a way out of the city that will hide us, would you?”

The dragon loosened it’s muscles, releasing some tension, and brought it’s snout close to Mary, lightly sniffing at her face.

[chained in a cell meme] Red kept herself low, crouching in front of the cell and pulled down the hood of her leather jacket off her head. "Voltur..?" she spoke softly, her expression full of worry.

Voltur lifted his head up tiredly once his name was called. He tried to more his arms but found them held in place. He was groggy trying to recall how he got here.. Oh now he remembers. “Red?” He called out once he heard her voice. “Get me down from here, quickly before the guards come.”

morpheusdavol:

Voltur reacted with a growl, his arm extending as an arc of lighting travels from his fingers tips, bouncing from the walls and floor till it hit the man’s back with enough amps to fry him and stop his heart.

His heart was pumping with anger as he performed the action, it was rage that made him do it as he lowered his hand.

"I do actually." He replied to Red over his shoulder before turning around. "Let’s go.. I don’t want to be here any longer.." He mumbled as he started walking. She had gotten a glimpse of Voltur’s darker side, perhaps now she would understand why he was alone.

Red jumped back a little, staring after the bolt until it was no longer seen, then a loud hiss of static as it hit it’s target. Her eyes then went to Voltur, watching him with concern as he began to walk away. She hurried after him and hugged him from behind, burrowing her head into his back and one hand rubbing his chest for a good long moment, then she slipped around to the front to lead. “This way.”

Voltur stopped when she hugged him from behind, pausing for a moment. He felt her slip around, his hand slipping forward and taking hers so she could lead him. “Okay..” He told her, letting her lead him.

She felt his fingers reaching for hers, looking down at it for a second and took his hand, looking ahead again. She did her best to quietly pad along the hall, keeping an eye out for any other movements..

Voltur however in this form was not made for sneaking. While he was somewhat quiet there, his form and height wouldn’t allow it. “How much further?” He whispered, restraining himself from just breaking the walls of the place.

"Not much," she replied quietly. She stopped at a corner and peeked around it, seeing if there was anyone in the next hall where the exit should be. There were two guards talking in the middle of it, and she pulled back. "Frack.. It’s blocked."

"I can take care of them." He suggested after peeking before retreating behind Red. "Quickly and quietly."

She looked to him and nodded, giving his hand a squeeze. “Be careful.”

Voltur looked at her for a movement before slipping his hand out of hers, slowly and hesitantly. “I’ll be safe..” He confirmed her before standing up, rotating his shoulders and looking around the corner.

He readied himself before summoning up his speed, crouching back with his clawed feet digging into the ground before he bursts around the corner, closing the distance in a matter of seconds. His elbow came into one of their neck, slashing and crushing the bones within.

The second guard had little time to react as Voltur backhanded him on the jaw as his head whipped back violently, demonstrations the force Voltur could apply when not even at full strength.

Both the guards lay dead. Well, one paralyzed, bleeding out his neck and the others head turned backwards. He looked over to the corner where Red was.

"We can go now."

She nearly fell onto her side as the wind behind him rushed, and she covered her ears when she heard the snapping of bones start. She could still hear it, not as much but it still made her stomach twist. Once it was quiet again, she uncovered her ears and looked over, trying to keep her vision on Voltur. She responded with a nod and got up, lightly waltzing over to him and points at a door at the other end. “This is it.”
